In 1996, Susan Taylor moved to Pender Island to pursue a life in art.
The sea and island life provide the inspiration for her drawings,
watercolours, and engravings. Her dramatic florals and detailed marine
life drawings are now in private and corporate collections in North
America and Europe. Her work is featured in the recently published books
Islands in the Salish Sea and Get Your Feet Wet!. The Penders' Morning Bay
Vineyard has chosen two of Susan's pieces for their wine labels.
In 1999, with her partner Frank Ducote, she opened the Blood Star
Gallery, overlooking the sea on South Pender Island, where her work may
be seen year round. Susan and Frank's joint work, a commissioned 20 foot
seascape, is installed in the Aurora Restaurant at Poets Cove Resort,
just down the road from the Blood Star.
Susan is an Active Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her work appears in FCA shows on Granville Island, Vancouver.
Her ink drawing, Opuntia, has been accepted in the upcoming Cactus and Succulent Show at the Desert Museum, Tucson.
